Research: Financial Access to Female Home-Based Workers
Only 7% of women have bank accounts in Pakistan even though 13% of the women own some form of asset. The lack of bank accounts limits women’s ability to access formal finance.
To identify barriers to access to finance and their mitigation strategy, Sohail Inc mapped the journey of female household workers in seeking finance through participant observations in vocational training institutions for women and consultations with industry experts. This helped in landscaping financial access of low-income female home-based workers. The insights from the study helped develop a strategy for bridging the gaps in financial inclusion and enhancing financial access to the target population.
